This dress from CityChic is so versatile.  The fabric can dress up or down with ease.  When I first saw it, I thought it would be cute with simple black pumps with a slim heel.  Then when I had it, I thought how the fabric and shape would work year-round and look adorable in the summer months with a strappy heel.  But for the holidays, it's time to don our gay apparel and go sparkly!

When Nordstrom asked me to share their extensive shoe collection this month, I decided it had to be a shoe full of sparkly holiday spirit, but also comfortable enough to wear all night long. When I saw these shoes by J. Renee I was psyched. Plenty of sparkle and they don't shed glitter when you walk (or scratch your skin). But the low heel gives flattering height but plenty of comfort for walking all day or dancing all evening. It comes in widths, and is shaped so it can easily accommodate insoles or even a no-show pair of peds like these.  While I paired them with an evening dress, this is the kind of style that would look cute peeking out of trousers, paired with ankle pants, worn with a shorter or longer skirt or dress.  I may wear them to my company's holiday happy hour with a red sweater and black trousers. With free shipping, free returns, a variety of widths and tons of customer reviews, Nordstrom honestly is my favorite online shoe store.

Not a very exciting day. After yoga had just a few minutes to throw on “real clothes” and then we ran multiple errands – the grocery, drop off a cooler at a friend’s house, get the dog’s pills, visit the bank, hit up Target and Home Depot… that glamorous suburban life. Since I only had…

  1. I’ve been looking at these shoes on Nordstrom.com for ages. I’m glad to see a picture of them on feet! Are the ones you’re showing the “blue” or the silver?
I’m new to your blog and really enjoying it!

  2. It’s been a while since I’ve commented on any of your posts, but I had to say that you look absolutely lovely! The length of the dress is perfect for either a formal or semi-formal event. I’d wear it with a silk or velvet jacket, since I don’t have a gorgeous vintage capelet like yours, and strappy high heels.

  3. I’ve been thinking, it’s not just that Allie is physically beautiful, which she definitely is. It’s her spirit, her soul that shines through too. She has a vibe that is so welcoming, approachable. I am very introverted, but if I saw her at an event, I would make a point of introducing myself.

    Thanks Allie!

    Chris

I meant to add that I perceive that wonderful vibe in her Mom, Sister, and Emerson too. It seems to be a family trait.

  4. This is cute. Party ready!
I keep meaning to mention… not this lipstick, but the Revlon Super Lustrous lipstick you’ve mentioned before. It’s available at Target for under $4 and at my grocery store for just over $4. If you’re paying more, check out the beauty aisle at your grocery.
Ulta moved into a nearby strip mall, and there’s a Walgreens too, so I was checking prices, and was surprised. The selection is just as good too.

    Love the shoes!

    1. I got the same impression! Allie is on her way to the premier of the film she is starring in. I’m certain she will get an Oscar for this one.

      Hugs.
