Who would have thought a bold pink pantsuit would be one of the hardest working pieces in my wardrobe? I bought this suit a year ago without a purpose or a place but just because I loved the color and I love how Banana Republic suiting fits me. I wore it to the rewardStyle conference, wore it to a daytime wedding, to work (together and as separates), have worn each piece individually, and most recently wore it to NewsBash, an event hosted by DC-area newscasters to bring attention and necessary funding for breast cancer treatment and research in the Nation's Capital. The dress code was pink, and I fit in great wearing it with a pale pink J. Crew camisole.
I was so excited when I received this shirt from Chico's. I think this is such a brilliant campaign. I don't feel old, I feel bold at 43 years of age. I feel like I'm finally coming in to my own. I made a risky bold choice with my career, I'm feeling bold after three months of weight training and working out, and with age I've become more bold with my personal style and life decisions. Age isn't something to fear, it's something to aspire to, and to do it with boldness. It's refreshing to see a brand like Chico's celebrate women at every age; I'm honored to partner with them.
Speaking of this suit, Banana Republic has some amazing suiting this season. No hot pink, but a pale pink, lavender, plenty of neutrals and some cool patterns. Banana Republic has also extended their size range to 20, with pants in short, regular, and tall lengths. I find the Ryan cut of pants fits me extremely well; these are the Ryan and I also have them in black and navy pinstripe.

Saturday we started the day with breakfast with my mom and boyfriend. We then spent most of the day at home. Saturday night, we went to see a midnight showing of the Rocky Horror Picture Show. my sister and I always love an event where we can wear a wig… I wore my black ponte…
Was supposed to work from home, but then had to put out fires at work. Same Straight Bootcut jeans from the flight, not yet washed. Pink merino v-neck from J. Crew, white scoop tee from American Apparel, black boots from Aldo. Hair is just combed and a bit of Jonathan Dirt applied. Makeup is L’Oreal…
Today was a very early morning. No picture. I am wearing my burgundy colored dolman-sleeve sweater from LOFT, brown trousers (Semantik’s Athena Bree from Nordstrom – love these pants), my Sofft brown croco T-straps, a tortoise shell and gold necklace and a thin gold bangle. Same makeup as yesterday and second day hair. So here’s…
Saturday, my sister and I went to the mall, then had a late lunch at our favorite Greek diner. We came back to my place for a movie night and a late-evening snack of oranges, samosas and a nice bottle of Spanish wine (for those who want to know, we saw Hairspray and Waitress). She…
Sort of a hazy, figgy day so I was able to get a reasonable picture. Blackberry dolman sweater from Ann Taylor Loft, denim trousersfrom Gap, black city boots from Aldo, gold chain from Express, thin gold hoops from Diva. Hair was washed and conditioned, then a bit of Sexy Straight Balm applied and hair dried…

You look fantastic and glowing! I love this suit on you and may need to get one of those t-shirts. I just had a milestone birthday (the big 5-0) so I better get on it and I will enjoy “cheating” and wearing it when I am 52, etc. Have a wonderful weekend!
Amen to that! Might need to surprise my sister (who turns 49 later this month) and my Mom who turned 75 in January and we can take a group pic when I visit them in San Diego in April! Here’s to bold ladies! 🙂
First…Chicos campaign is amazing!! I love being proud of my age, and not being scared to shout it from the world!! It really has made me bolder because I think I realize that life is short and I need to enjoy every moment!
As for the pink suit, Allie. It is incredible on you!! I think this bright pink is definitely one of your colors and you look so #bossbabe in it!!!
XOXO

I have been reading your blog for years. I don’t usually write comments on blog posts, but I just have to say this. You look so much happier! Your posts have changed a bit, obviously, but I think they really seem much more authentic and true to you (like I know you!). I love seeing your personality in Instagram stories, seeing more of your family and your tales as a wife, mother and woman! Keep on doing what you are doing! 🙂
I don’t need an update on your workout; I’ve been following you on Instagram, so I see your progress. But, this is the first time I’ve really noticed your progress. You look FABULOUS! Your bust and waist are smaller, your neck and arms are toned and your face is radiant. I love working when I can, I’m currently recovering from ankle surgery. It makes me feel empowered, bold and brave to be able to take my health and well-being into my own hands. Continue your progress. I’m so proud of you and the changes you’ve made to better yourself.
Swift healing with the ankle! Yeah, I haven’t super noticed because it’s winter and I spend most days in leggings and a sweater or overalls. The first time I noticed was when I wore this suit for NewsBash… it looked better open than buttoned and a year ago it looked better buttoned because it created a waist. It’s only like 12 pounds, but the change in exercise, lack of alcohol, reduction of caffeine, increase of sleep and fewer refined carbs/sugar have made a major impact! I hear you on feeling empowered. I never was athletic before so I didn’t know what I was missing!
thank you! And I’m not sure it could be… I bought it back in 1997. I think it was mismarked it’s sterling silver but I only paid $35 for it. I got it at Hecht’s department store (RIP).

Yeah, I totally just ordered one for me and one for my sister. Thanks!
Hooray! 🙂
Thank you Tara and YES get the shirt (and who says you can only wear it for one year? 😀 )!

Oh my gosh I love that idea!!!
I am newer to your blog- but I’m SO happy I found you. You are stunning and you wear beautiful clothes for grownups!! Giddyup!!
Thank you so much Caroline, and I am so glad to have you here!

Thank you so much Jodie!
That pink suit is an excellent choice to wear at any time of year as a wedding guest. I want one of those tee shirts.
I love that they have them available for sale. I was worried it was just a campaign but everyone can have them!
Seems like picking up that pink beauty was a good idea, you’ve gotten some good wear.
I love the color and the fit – YOU GO GIRL !
Thanks Lorena!

That’s so great to read Roya, thank you!
I love this campaign from Chico’s! Apparently, I have a few years to go before I’m really BOLD though. 🙂
LOL you can be bold at any age. I just think society forgets about those over 40 having badass and bold tendencies and Chico’s is reminding everyone!
You look amazing! Still waiting for that workout post (hint, hint!), I need all the inspo I can get in that department.
I know, I just want some “after” photos but my trainer won’t take them until I reach goal weight. I guess it’s motivation, I’m almost there! 😀

Isn’t it an awesome campaign? This is one promotion I am thrilled to be a part of!
Love your blog! Be Bold! I think I have the same bracelet. (Harvest Gold jewelry)
